Have you ever walked by a bakery and suddenly the warm,
comforting aroma of butter, sugar and flour baking together
whisks you back to your childhood?
Before the nightly routine begins,
it's so important to let kids be kids
after a day of school work...
Playing outside with friends,
playing with Miss Piper Rose
and reading stories are some of Luke's favorite activities.
I passed this lovely recipe down to
The Divine Miss M
so she also can bake up a delicious
heirloom recipe in her own kitchen!
These are perfect little hand pies
for after school snacks
or
to pack in a lunch box!
You will need:
One package of refrigerated pie crusts
3 apples, peeled, cored
and
sliced thinly
PREHEAT OVEN TO 400 DEGREES F.
Mix together:
1/3 cup sugar
2 T. flour
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. nutmeg
Toss apples slices in cinnamon/flour/sugar mixture.
Pour 1/4 cup milk in small bowl and set aside.
Divide pie crusts evenly into four triangles.
Place 4-6 coated apple sliced into each side of the triangle.
Place small pats of butter over apples.
Fold over and press sides with a fork.
Brush with milk and place on baking sheet.
Score the top of each pie.
Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden.
There you have it....
a perfect
Apple Pie Pocket!
Perhaps a glass of ice cold milk....
or
a scoop of ice cream!
